A flexible and creative teaching tool to be used with 10-15 year old students with a focus on 3 sustainability themes. To get started, feel free to sign up for a free webinar by sending an email to hej@andlearning.com

Didactic Bricks is a new and free learning tool that supports students in engaging, investigating, creating and acting on 3 current challenges:  Food & beverages, Nature & biodiversity, and Textiles & fashion. The 3 themes have been chosen as they are close to the students’ own world of experience, and give them the opportunity to engage locally as well as to understand what is happening globally. The ambition is that students will gain hope through their own creative actions.

As a teacher, you will be able to use Didactic Bricks to vary your teaching in the subjects and/or to prepare interdisciplinary projects. Didactic Bricks offers a number of so-called didactic bricks (activities), which you can use with a first version of a lesson plan builder to build your own unique lesson plan – or adapt others’. Didactic Bricks is still under development, and this website should therefore be seen as a prototype.

Food & beverage

The food and beverage sector is closely linked to sustainability and climate change. Farming, processing, transport, and consumption generate significant greenhouse gas emissions, while food waste and deforestation add further pressure on land and resources. Dietary choices – from meat and dairy to plant-based foods – have a major impact on the environment and human health. Didactic Bricks offers students the chance to explore innovative ways to make food systems more sustainable, reduce waste, and support climate-friendly diets.

Textile & fashion

The textile and fashion industry plays a significant role in climate change. The production, transport and consumption of clothing have a very large impact. The increasing spread of fast fashion and a throw-away culture exacerbate the problem. Didactic Bricks gives students the opportunity to actively and creatively engage in developing solutions to some of the biggest climate challenges associated with clothing and fashion.

Nature & biodiversity

Nature and biodiversity are vital for life on Earth, yet they are under severe pressure from climate change, pollution, and unsustainable land use. Forests, wetlands, and oceans play a key role in storing carbon and regulating our climate, but many ecosystems are being degraded or lost. The decline in species and habitats threatens food security, clean water, and resilience to extreme weather. Didactic Bricks enables students to engage actively and creatively in developing solutions to protect nature, restore ecosystems, and safeguard biodiversity for future generations.
