METHOD

Mime and Guess

Students take turns miming academic content, which is then guessed by the other students.

The method trains students to translate academic content into physical expression.

1

Students receive or create sentences, words, concepts, or similar within a given topic. One sentence/word/concept per post-it note.

2

The students individually draw one post-it.

3

The student gets thinking time.

4

The student mimes the content for the group or class.

5

The group/class guesses until they have guessed correctly or time runs out.

6

Repeat from step 2 until there are no more post-its or time runs out.

Didactic tips:

  • The method can advantageously be done in groups so that more students are engaged.

  • If it is too difficult for a student to mime what is written on the slip, the student can optionally draw a new one.
