Students plan and conduct an interview with a grandparent and another student to identify differences and similarities between Danes’ clothing consumption past and present.
The intention is for students to become aware of the climate consequences of the different behavioral patterns of clothing consumption over time.
Using the User Interview method, students work in pairs to prepare an interview with a grandparent, great-grandparent or other senior in their surroundings about their clothing consumption when they were young.
The pairs interview the older generation about their clothing consumption and record audio or video with their cell phones. This can be done by calling them, for example.
The pairs record their findings from the interview on the worksheet Clothing consumption then and now before and now under “before”.
The pairs go together in pairs. They interview each other to get a picture of their own clothing consumption. Record the findings on the worksheet Clothing consumption then and now under “now”.
Using the Similarities and Differences method, students compare and find similarities and differences between past and present clothing consumption.
Debrief with students and invite them to reflect on how the changes in clothing consumption over time affect the climate.
