The fashion ‘why’ – Part 1

The students formulate their own motivation and vision for sustainable fashion and design a creative solution for a more sustainable world.

The intention is to foster intrinsic motivation and visionary thinking about circular futures in students.

Show and describe the 3 short examples of Sustainable fashion initiatives.

Ask students to think about these examples, and to start thinking about alternatives futures through the Futures of fashion brainstorm prompts. Project these questions on the board, and let students reflect on these questions by themselves using the Silent Brainstorming method. Give them 5 minutes to brainstorm the ‘now’, 5 minutes for the ‘future’, and 5 minutes to think of a first rough idea for a more sustainable fashion world.

Form small groups using the Random Groups method. Let students share their visions and discuss what motivates them using the Talking Chips method.

Didactic tips:

Let all groups briefly write down what they made on the leaving a message handout, and what message they want to give to the world regarding clothing. Find a place where all designs and messages can be displayed, either in the school or at a public place. Alternatively, invite parents or save the designs for the days that parents come to visit.
