ACTIVITY

Fashion influencers and social media

The students will participate in an open conversation to discuss the impact of fashion influencers on their fashion habits.

The intention is to make students explore how fashion influencers affect what people buy, who benefits and how influencers stimulate fast fashion.

1

Ask students about famous fashion influencers, and whether they know any. Let them tell them about these fashion influencers if they are excited. If they don’t know any, make sure to have some googled some beforehand.

2

Ask students what they already know. Discuss:

  • Who are these influencers? Do you follow any?
  • What is an influencer?
  • What is a fashion influencer?
3

Make groups using the Random Groups method.Ask groups to discuss and write down answers to these prompts:

  • Do you get inspired by influencers?
  • Do you think influencers are always honest about the clothes they promote?
  • What’s more important to you: your own style, wearing clothes for more seasons, or wearing what’s popular on social media?
  • How would fashion be different if there were no influencers — and no social media?
4

Let groups share their insights using the 3-Point Presentation method.

5

Reflect together:

  • How would fashion be different if there were no influencers?

  • How would your own fashion behavior be different without social media?
