ACTIVITY

Breakfast and your health: what do you value?

The students move to different corners of the classroom according to their opinions about breakfast-related statements, then discuss and reflect on how breakfast choices influence their health and daily performance.

The intention is to create awareness of personal health habits and the influence of breakfast on energy, focus, and wellbeing.

1

Introduction (5 min):
Briefly discuss the role of breakfast and ask students if they always eat it.

2

Setup:
Label classroom corners: Agree, Disagree, Neutral, Not sure.

3

Statements + Discussion (20 min):

Read statements aloud, one at a time

    • “Skipping breakfast helps me concentrate.”
    • “Healthy breakfasts are too much work.”
    • “I always eat breakfast.”
    • “For breakfast I should eat a lot.”
    • “Preparing breakfast takes too much time.”

Students move to the corner that matches their opinion.

4

Discussion:
Ask students in each corner to explain their choices. Encourage respectful dialogue and critical thinking.

5

Reflection (10 min):
Students write or share what they learned about how breakfast influences their own health.

Didactic tips:

  • Encourage quieter students to express their ideas through written reflection.
  • Adapt statements to suit age or local food culture.
  • Follow up with a creative activity: students plan or design their “ideal healthy breakfast.”
  • Link to topics like nutrition, energy balance, or sustainability in food choices.
