ACTIVITY

Fashion podcast

The students prepare and conduct a podcast about fashion.

The intention is for students to engage with sustainable fashion in a creative way.

1

Introduce the assignment of making a 5-minute podcast about fashion and clothing.

2

Split students in groups using the random group method.

3

Using the Statements of Wonder method, let students think of an interesting question they want to research surrounding (fast) fashion. E.g.: What is sustainable fashion? What can we do for a more sustainable world?

4

Describe the structure of the 5-minute podcast.

  • First students introduce the question they want to answer in the podcast.
  • They then mention some fun facts about their topic.
  • They have a little discussion on their view points afterwards.
  • Students end with a motivating slogan surrounding (fast) fashion.
5

Give students time to research their topics using laptops or tablets.

6

Students record the podcast.

7

The podcasts are listened to in class.

Didactic tips:

  • Students can interview a guest live on the podcast.
  • Students can share their own ideas on how to upcycle clothing in the podcast.
