Description: Students choos a plant and its history by creating a timeline.
Intention: Learning about the prehistoric and timeline of species over the years and how its use has changed but is still present.
In part 1 of this Brick, students choose a plant and start investigating it.
In part 2, students draw up a timeline and present their findings to each other.
Looking back (5 minutes)
Looking back on part 1, how did students experience their plant search and the start of the investigation? Did new ideas or questions come up?
Build a timeline (30 min)
On paper or digitally, draw a simple timeline showing the plant’s journey. From its ancient origins to how it’s used today. Encourage them to include dates, locations, and short facts or drawings.
The Timeline can be used here.
Share discoveries (10 min)
Invite students to present their plant timelines to the class. They can highlight surprising facts or global connections.
