ACTIVITY

Sugar Shock in Drinks

The students compare the sugar content in different drinks, weigh the actual amount of sugar, and create awareness posters about hidden sugars in beverages.

The intention is to raise awareness about sugar in everyday drinks and encourage critical thinking about healthier choices.

1

Engage (5 min): We show different drinks and asks: ‘Which one do you think has the most sugar?’

Brainstorming in small groups.

2

Investigate (15 min): In groups, students read nutrition labels, calculate sugar amounts (in grams), and weigh the same amount of sugar using scales and packets.

3

Compare (10 min): Groups compare findings and discuss which drinks are healthier or surprising.

4

Create (10 min): Each group designs a Sugar Shock in Drinks showing the sugar content visually (e.g., glue sugar packets or draw sugar cubes) and add a short slogan in English.

5

Wrap-up (5 min): Groups present their posters briefly to the class.
