The method is suitable for a quick exchange between students while they are moving.
Ask the students to stand up and raise one arm in the air to show they are ready to meet a partner.
Once everyone has found a partner, ask a question or present a challenge for the students to consider. Allow thinking time.

The students say goodbye to each other. They return to their seats or find a new partner. They answer the same question or get a new one.
Move around among the students as they exchange ideas, and comment, summarise, and/or build on what they are saying.
Be mindful of students being ‘avoided’ when partners are chosen. Take actions to increase the group’s willingness to interact with everyone, mixing and matching in different ways. For example, use many short activities so students have the opportunity to meet with many people. Catch a partner you haven’t spoken to in a while.
