Knowledge Wall

The pupils organise and create an overview of the knowledge they gather on a physical or digital wall.

This method helps pupils practise systematising knowledge using text, images, photos, drawings, diagrams, graphs, links, video clips, and more.

Find a suitable bare wall, or create a digital wall using, for example, Padlet.

The pupils continuously display their gathered knowledge on the wall throughout the activity or course.

The pupils use the wall as a visual memory aid and to get an overview of a large amount of material. They can refer back to the collected knowledge throughout the course.

Didactic tips:

  • The knowledge wall should be placed somewhere the pupils can easily access it and where it can remain displayed throughout the entire course.
  • The knowledge wall can also include pupils’ own work created during the course.
  • The collected knowledge can be organised under headings to make it easy for pupils to get an overview and navigate the wall. You can, for example, use the Category Development method.
  • For longer projects, a separate knowledge wall can be created for each group.
