Nature-Inspired Party – Part 2

Description: Students put their plans into action by hosting a nature-inspired, low-waste party with activities, food, decorations, and displays that celebrate nature and their learning.

Intention:Students practise teamwork, communication, and responsibility while celebrating their learning and reflecting on their connections with nature and each other.

This activity is the final stage of the Nature-Inspired Party project. Make sure students have completed Part 1 and prepared their contributions before starting the event.

Before:

  • Check that all teams have completed their preparations.
  • Make sure the space, materials, food, activities, and waste stations are ready.
  • Brief students on their responsibilities and the event schedule.
  • Check safety, food, and supervision arrangements.

Set up
Students prepare the space, activities, food, decorations, displays, and waste stations.

Welcome
Welcome guests and briefly introduce the theme of the party.

Celebrate
Students run their activities, workshops, displays, and other contributions.

Manage the event
Students take responsibility for food, materials, waste sorting, and welcoming guests.

Reflect and clean up
Reflect together on the event and what students learned. Sort the waste and leave the area clean.

Didactic tips:

  • Give each team clear responsibilities for both the event and the clean-up.
  • Keep the focus on participation and collaboration rather than creating a perfect event.
  • Encourage students to explain the sustainability ideas behind their activities, food, or decorations.
  • Use the final reflection to discuss what worked well, what could be improved, and how the event reflected the students’ connection with nature.
