ACTIVITY

Who Are the Bees – Part 2

Students collaborate in groups to research various aspects of bee life and present their findings in a creative format.

The aim is for students to understand the structure and ecological importance of bees, and how they contribute to both nature and human life.

Before:

This activity is a continuation of Who Are the Bees? – Part 1, which should be completed beforehand.

1

Students get time to finish their research and presentations. They collect their findings on a poster, including:

  • Supporting pictures or drawings

  • Short descriptions

  • A quote about bees

  • At least one suggestion for helping bees

2

Students present their posters and give each other feedback.

Interesting methods to use for the presentation are the Expert Carousel and the Presentation Bazaar.
Interesting methods for constructive feedback are the Two Stars and a Wish and the 4-Feedback.

3

All posters are displayed in a “Bee Corner” exhibition.

Didactic tips:

  • Integrate the topic with Art (e.g., drawing bees or designing posters) or Language (e.g., writing a bee poem or short story).

  • Invite a local beekeeper to the class to share real-life experiences and answer student questions.

  • Use interest-based group formation to let students choose a research topic that excites them (e.g., hive life, bee anatomy, environmental threats).

  • Allow students to present their findings in different formats (e.g., slideshow, video, infographic) to support diverse learning styles.
